PORTMEIRION

Portmeirion is a unique place designed and built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1975 in the Baroque style and is now owned by a charitable trust. It has served as the location for numerous films and television shows, most famously as "The Village" in the 1960s television show The Prisoner. Many of the buildings within the village are listed by Cadw, the Welsh historic environment service, for their architectural and historical importance, and the gardens areGrade II listed. Portmeirion really is a ‘must visit’ place because of the colourful quirky buildings and the wonderful scenery and beaches contained in the grounds. Between 2012 to 2018 it hosted a unique music and arts festival called Festival N0.6 which we attended a few times. It is sadly missed.
